A Star Jar is a collection of handwritten notes: the good you see in someone, the things you want them to know, the reminders of who they are at their core, all folded into the shape of a star. It's an intentional way to connect, to show someone they're seen, valued, and loved. We created Star Jar Kits to make it as easy as possible for you to make something that means something.

When you buy, make, give, or receive a Star Jar, you become part of something bigger. Not like a chain letter—more like a legacy That's what Star Jars are about: connection. You've either felt what it's like when someone takes the time to see the best in you, or you've chosen to recognize the best in someone else. Either way, that makes you part of Our Fold: humans who, despite all our humanness, faults, and mistakes, stay committed to the practice of looking for the good in each other.
How it works
We've made everything as easy as possible for you. All you need is a little time and your favorite pen. The rest is in the kit.
Write your note
Jars hold about 25 stars. The best jars are a mix of heart, humor, and the things that remind someone who they are at their core: beautiful, loved, whole, good. Inside the kit, we give you some prompts for how to get started. Don't worry, strips fill up fast. Trust us, you'll have enough good to share.
Fold it into a star
It's not as hard as it looks! We hear "I'm not crafty" or "I won't be able to do it" all the time. We promise, you've learned and done things that are so much harder than this. We've got video tutorials to help. There are even extra strips to practice. Messy or neat, every star is beautiful
Fill the jar & Gift it up
The paper strips come clipped together inside the jar. Take them out, write your notes, and fold your stars. You can fill the jar as you go to keep things neat. When you're done, take all your folded stars out, mix them up, and put them back into the jar. Now grab your card and write a note. Put the jar back in the box, fluff up the crinkles, and tie the ribbon around it. Now you've got a gift for special occasions, hard days, or no reason at all. Because who doesn't need more kindness in their day?

Why we fold
Folding stars is our act of rebellion.
It is our own small insurgency against the constant noise, the rush, and the endless stream of messages telling us we aren't enough. We know the challenges, the traumas, the heartbreaks of living. We’ve experienced our fair share.
That’s life. That’s reality. No one gets out unscathed.
